Born near India in 2913, Sarkona is a non-binary human (they/them) who is 108 years old at the start of the novel. As a Bio-developer they took responsibility for acclimatizing Nat, the narrator, to life a thousand years in the future. Equal parts wise and mischievous, Sarkona's passion for life and all its various interests is contagious. A loyal, patient friend, who can be relied upon, no matter the situation.

  • "Ears are really weird. Don't laugh, I'm serious! So much of how someone prefers to experience sound is subjective - so making alterations to them is challenging. They're my least favourite part of the body to do Bio-dev work on."
